Andrew Muir, Investment Director

Andrew started his career with ICI and Zeneca,
including a secondment to the University of Southern Mississippi in the
USA. He was a research manager at Biocompatibles, with responsibility
for their ophthalmic patent portfolio and Vice President of Global
Technology at the US medical device start up Sterilox Technologies,
before joining the National Endowment of Science, Technology and the
Arts (NESTA) as investment manager for life sciences. Andrew has a
D.Phil and
MA in Chemistry from Oxford University. He is a non-executive director
of
Warwick Effect Polymers, Babraham BioConcepts Ltd and Chameleon
Biosurfaces Ltd.
Mark White

Mark has over twenty years
experience in investment with extensive periods in UK investment
banking and emerging markets, including raising and managing a R100m
fund in South Africa. Most recently, he led the transformation of
NESTA's investment operations, building it into the most active
technology seed investor in the UK. He holds an MBA from London
Business School. Richard Hadden 
Richard
was a Senior Investment Manager at NESTA between 2001 and 2006, where
he led investments in the IT sector. Prior to NESTA, Richard was Global
Business Development Director for nGame (now Hands-on Mobile), a
provider of mobile entertainment services. Richard has an MA in Natural
Sciences and a Diploma in Computer Science from Queen's College
Cambridge. He is also a qualified (non-practising) barrister in England
and Wales.
Martyn Breeze
Martyn
Breeze has more than 20 years experience in life sciences having worked
with Celltech and PPL Therapeutics (the spin out from the Roslin Institute which cloned Dolly the sheep). He has extensive knowledge
of all aspects of the biotechnology industry with particular experience in
business development and product development. Martyn has worked a great deal with pre- start up and early
start up companies, including through his role as a Life Science
Business Advisor for Scottish Enterprise. Martyn works with the Scottish Rainbow partner institutes to develop opportunities and manage their progress.
Lamia Baker
Lamia started her career in 1997 as an optical engineer
and worked in four technology start-ups in Boston in the USA, specialising in developing and bringing to
production optical devices and systems for telecoms and consumer applications.
Lamia has an MSc in Optics from
University of Rennes (France) and is in the process of completing a PhD in
telecommunications from University College
London. |
